Event Details

Have you been looking for a way to share your cooking or food traditions with your neighborhood and community? Or maybe you’re a food entrepreneur looking to start your food business starting out of your home?

The Micro Enterprise Food Kitchen Operation (MEHKO) available in Solano County may be a good fit – and we can help you get started! (Note: this options is for Solano and other MEHKO-approved counties only; MEHKO permitting has NOT been adopted by Napa County at this time).

The MEHKO permit allows chefs to prepare, cook and serve food prepared in their home kitchen directly to consumers, either through delivery, take-out or dine-in at the house.

About MEHKO in Solano County

Requirements include: Food must be cooked and served on the same day and approved MEHKO’s can serve up to 30 meals a day, or 60 meals per week. Other requirements apply.

MEHKO was established in California in 2019, with the passage of AB 626. Chefs can participate in MEHKO if their county has opted into the program. Solano County’s Board of Supervisors officially approved MEHKO for Solano County in March, 2021.
