As a small business owner, you may not think you’re in the business of public relations – but you are!

Public relations is crucial to the success of every business, big and small. Small budget-conscious businesses do not have the luxury of hiring their own PR firm and have to take on a more DIY approach.

Fortunately, thanks to the expanding and evolving media and Internet, there are now many avenues for businesses managing and building their PR efforts. It is actually a lot easier than you may think!

In fact, if you already utilize social media for your business or you represent your company in community organizations and events, you are already doing your own public relations. In this webinar, we’ll explore free PR opportunities available to small businesses and how you can best utilize them.

Key topics covered in this workshop include:

  • The importance of seeing yourself as an ‘expert’ in your field
  • Becoming a storyteller
  • Getting involved and building your network in the community
  • Creating your own ‘Press Kit’
  • Creating and submitting press releases

Taught by Brianna Boyd. Brianna is the marketing specialist for the Solano-Napa SBDC and oversees the center’s social media channels and website content, writes and distributes press releases, networks and communicates with community partners and stakeholders, and leads webinars on social media and marketing for businesses.

She has a background in journalism and was a newspaper editor/reporter for 10 years before going into communications and marketing.
