Program Summary:
To support small businesses and employers facing financial impacts and layoffs from the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Vallejo, in partnership with the Workforce Development Board (WDB) of Solano County and the Solano-Napa Small Business Development Center, has established the Vallejo Small Business COVID-19 Microgrant program.
This program will provide micro-grants to approximately 50 small businesses in Vallejo that are experiencing economic stress due to Covid-19. These micro-grants are funded by the City of Vallejo with monies received from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).
The City of Vallejo’s $350,000 ARPA funding will allow the Solano-Napa SBDC and the Workforce Development Board, on behalf of the City of Vallejo, to award grants to these small businesses based on number of full-time equivalent (FTE) employees, as of June 30, 2022. Pre-determined grant amounts are as follows:
- 0 to 5 FTE: $5,000
- 6 to 10 FTE: $7,500
- 11 to 20 FTE: $10,000
Eligibility:
Grants will be awarded based on eligibility guidelines established by the City of Vallejo.
For-profit businesses are eligible for this grant if the business meets ALL OF THESE CRITERIA:
- Is based within the city limits of Vallejo, California
- Has 20 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) employees or less as of June 30, 2022
- Has a current City of Vallejo business license
- Is open and operating
- Was significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic
- Has been in operation since 2020
- Can provide documentation of 2020 tax return and/or businesses’ 2020 gross receipts
Grant Details:
The application window for the Vallejo Small Business COVID-19 Microgrant will open at 9 am on July 1. Applications will be accepted through 5 pm on July 29 and will be available on this website at this link.
Grants will be awarded based on eligibility. All applications submitted prior to the July 29 deadline will be reviewed. If necessary, a randomized lottery will be conducted to select the 50 small businesses that will receive grant funding.
The grantee list will be announced on Aug. 11 at solanonapasbdc.org.
All grant recipients must self-certify that grant funds will be used for one or more of the following permissible activities:
- The purchase of new equipment
- Investment in working capital
- Application for, or renewal of, a local permit
- Payment of business debt accrued due to the COVID-19 pandemic
- Costs resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and related health and safety restrictions
Due to federal funding, selected employers must attest to Certifications and Assurances and complete the contract process before funds may be dispersed. Entities receiving an award may be subject to local or state monitoring.
